When writing my future I was told to not let anyone else hold my pen. And I tried – took first step, followed by another one. And the third one …
It is true – the beginning is the hardest. How come not? – at first we are resting calmly in our warm, safe nest. Surrounded by people who love us, know us and support us. Some would say these are perfect conditions for an individual to grow. Unconditional love. I must admit – I was that person too.
Why “was” and not “am”?
- Something (obviously) changed. I tried something new. Took a peak out of my safe bubble and started crawling abroad. Like a toddler when taking it’s first steps I too did stumble upon my decisions. At first it was just “10 days of Bulgaria for Leadership Summer School”. I kept saying: “How hard can it be?” and smirked at the thought of being scared of the unknown. The thinking mode, “There are going to be only 80 new people I will have to handle,” just added on my anticipation and encouraged me to spicy the first jump a little more.

As my little two sunshine do every day, I too run. I “turned all my can’ts into cans and my dreams into plans.” For my dreams are pushing me forward and giving me the insight into how my future will look like.
I would have never imagined myself being the kind of person that I am today: fully aware of the energy I possess, my potential to do remarkable things and important changes in other peoples’ lives.
Still in the seek of my own nest I know … I will not settle for anything less than for what I started with: loving environment, countless opportunities to grow, obstacles to overcome and supportive people I can always count on.
I believe our dreams come a size too big for a reason – so that we can grow into them with time. Defining our dreams is what is challenging. By using the words that come from within us we are always on the right track.
My advice to everyone and to my future self is: take a pen and define your aims. After that … keep writing, and if you feel like it – keep it a habit. Having it all out there makes it real. Our minds are more focused, our hearts are then the next step – those beating muscles that follow our restless attempts to accomplish the inner happiness are in the seek of new adventures.
Can we balance them both? As I see it, the right answer is: “Not always.” For it my favorite quote is: “My life didn’t always go as planned. And that’s ok!”
